About the Epilepsy Self Management Toolkit

From 2023 – 2024, people from across Scotland were brought together to share their stories and experiences about living with epilepsy. Clinical and social support experts, families and carers shared theirs too. Together we captured the key challenges faced by people with epilepsy and the things they do to overcome them. We worked together to design this set of resources, which frames these stories as  advice for others.

We know that everyone’s epilepsy is different and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. The resources in this Toolkit are not intended to replace medical advice. They are simply a collection of guidance and tips from people with lived experience of epilepsy, which we encourage you to try out and find what works best for yourself.

The Epilepsy Self Management Toolkit has been developed by the William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre (WQSEC), supported by the Thistle Foundation and funded by the Health and Social Care Alliance Self Management Fund.
